Her eyes are a brilliant silver, seeming to glow faintly when she draws upon her magic. Though she is only twenty-two, there is something ancient and difficult to read in her gaze. Vael'lin carries herself with quiet confidence. She rarely needs to raise her voice or make a show of her abilities; there is an unmistakable sense that she knows exactly what she is capable of. Personality Vael'lin is calm, intelligent, and observant. She tends to watch a situation unfold before deciding how she wants to respond, preferring clever solutions over reckless ones. Fenril Fenril is Vael'lin's black wolf companion. His fur is completely black, making him almost disappear into darkness at night. A distinctive pale crescent moon-shaped marking rests upon his forehead, glowing faintly whenever Vael'lin uses powerful magic. Fenril is intelligent enough to understand far more than an ordinary animal. He is protective of Vael'lin and tends to remain close to her, often silently watching strangers until he decides whether they can be trusted. Although intimidating to strangers, Fenril has a surprisingly affectionate side that he shows almost exclusively to Vael'lin. Rather than attacking her, the creature simply watched her from the darkness. For reasons neither Vael'lin nor anyone else completely understands, the wolf eventually chose to follow her. She named him Fenril. Since then, the two have traveled together. Vael'lin doesn't consider Fenril a mere animal or familiar. He is her companion, her protector, and perhaps the closest thing she has to family. Now, at twenty-two, Vael'lin wanders the world with Fenril at her side, taking on whatever adventures, mysteries, and dangers cross their path. She doesn't seek fame or glory. She simply wants the freedom to decide her own destiny—and to uncover the truth behind the strange power that runs through her blood.
