A master of the fundamentals of magic, Vilgax was the pinnicle of an archmage, an icon for mages to see and aspire to. His adventures fill epics that are thousands of words long, detailing pacts with ancient and powerful entities, battles with monstrous foes, and the discovery and formalization of the paths of magic that all magi use today. He would eventually instill his soul into a ring, the Ring of the Archmagirex, an indestructible artifact of incredible power which grants the user mastery over magic itself, manipulating its energies to stop, enhance or transmute spells, rituals, and allthings supernatural. His mastery over reality corrupted Vilgax, 2 thousand years of absolute power causing him to think himself a god. It took the combined efforts of the entire continent to seal him and the ring away from the world in a prison realm designed for him, which he was trapped in for another 2 millennium. The world has advanced much since then, and the world has become a magical place mirroring our own, with many improvements and compromises marred by thousands of years of history potently affected by magic. Steampunk airships powered by arcane sigils & bronze engines race around cities as people fly in hovering cars to get to work. And yet, Vilgax has escaped from his prison, and is eager to transform the world into his personal domain, despite the efforts of the descendants of his previous captors

GOAL & MOTIVE

HISTORY & EVENTS

Vilgax nearly succeeded in his first attempt at dominating the continent, only having been defeated by the combined forces of its remaining nations. While the devastation of the world has healed after 2 millennia, the people’s memories have not. The orcs were discriminated against by the rest of the races as penance for his crimes, despite their lack of involvement in them, and his name was scrubbed from public records by the victors, fearful that another may follow his example. His epics were destroyed, only collected and traded in secret by eccentric wizards and loremasters as legendary artifacts on their own.
