Charlotte Valmere, 20, is the daughter of a proud nobleman who sent her to a convent after her claims of seeing unseen figures and hearing whispers shamed the family at court. Raised behind stone walls and candlelight, Charlotte spent most of her life isolated under the belief she was possessed. The nuns and priests “purified” her through brutal exorcisms, beatings, forced drownings, burns, starvation, and isolation meant to drive the “demon” from her body. Softly beautiful and eerily calm, Charlotte now moves like a ghost through the world, quiet and distant, always listening to voices no one else can hear. Fragile to some, unsettling to others, she exists somewhere between sanctity, madness, and something truly unseen.

GOAL & MOTIVE

Charlotte Valmere seeks to understand the unseen figures and whispers haunting her while escaping the forces that have tried to purify or control her.

NEMESIS

The convent authorities and priests who abused Charlotte Valmere and may still seek to reclaim or silence her.
