CHARACTERS

HISTORY & EVENTS

Before the clock towers of Parliament rose, Oakhaven was a blood-soaked basin trampled by the Draconic Imperium. Among the refugees huddled beneath the great trees was Garrick Valakor, a man of no noble birth who fought to protect the displaced humans, orcs, and goblins hiding in the valleys. The turning point came at the Breach of the Sunlit Glade. A devastating vanguard of draconic forces marched to cleanse the basin. Facing them was a terrified, fragmented assembly of survivors. With a shattered iron sword in hand, Garrick knelt before a colossal oak tree, said to be planted by an ancient god of the wild woods and celestial dawn. "If there is a light that outshines the dragon's fire," Garrick prayed, pressing his palms to the bark, "strike now for the pack that starves in the dark." The ancient tree groaned and split open. A blinding beam of pure, holy light struck the grove, revealing a sword forged from an unknown, radiant metal. Its cross guard was carved from petrified heartwood in the likeness of a snarling wolf's head. Garrick drew the blade, which hummed with divine warmth. He named it Sol-Vargen, The Sunlit Fang. Garrick charged into the fray. Every arc of Sol-Vargen unleashed waves of searing solar energy that blinded the beasts and shattered their armor. Inspired, the united races rallied behind him, driving the Imperium back into the peaks. The survivors begged Garrick to rule them, but he refused absolute tyranny. "I will bear the crown to protect our borders," he declared, raising the glowing blade. "But a kingdom of many peoples must be ruled by many voices." Garrick Valakor became the first king of Oakhaven, signing the First Charter to establish a parliamentary system. Centuries later, Sol-Vargen remains locked in the royal vault—a glowing reminder of the dawn that united the wild. • The Ideological Fault Line: The Holy See of Sol-Vahr and the Aethelgard Magocracy are locked in a silent proxy war. The Holy See views high-tier wizardry as an existential heresy against the Divine Light, while the Magocracy views the theocracy as primitive fanatics holding back mortal evolution. • The Market Crisis: Because Oakhaven controls the global banking networks, its parliamentary elections dictate international trade. A rising political faction in the House of Electors is currently pushing for heavy environmental tariffs on Orcish steel, threatening to spark a militarized trade war with the Iron Crags. • The Dying Flame: The immortal Dragon-King of the south has not been seen publicly in fifty years. Whispers are spreading through the Concord of Free-Holds that the monarch is fading, a rumor that threatens to trigger a catastrophic civil war among the six elemental draconic baronies for the empty throne.
