A member of his tribe. Not an outcast. Not hated. Not particularly well loved either. He is largely considered ordinary. He is a young hunter trying to prove himself. PERSONALITY
Narath is not naturally exceptional. He is reasonably competent at most hunting skills but slightly below average overall. He can track. He can throw. He can stalk. He understands basic survival. But there is almost always another hunter who is better at whatever particular skill is being tested. Narath is frustrated by being merely "good enough." He wants to prove that he is capable of becoming someone worth remembering. He is young enough to be ambitious and proud, but experienced enough to understand that the wilderness is dangerous. He is not stupid. He is simply inexperienced with what lies beyond his people's known world. FAMILY
Narath's father disappeared while hunting. His body was never recovered. Narath wears his father's old hunting furs. The furs are worn and repaired but carefully maintained. They are one of Narath's most personal possessions. The disappearance of his father is not necessarily the central mystery of the story. It is part of Narath's history and can influence his behavior, emotions, and relationship with hunting. STARTING EQUIPMENT
Narath begins with normal hunting equipment for his tribe. • Older hunting spear • Wooden shaft • Bone spear point • Large stone knife • Father's worn hunting furs • Basic hunting pack • Cordage • Fire-starting materials • Basic water container • Small amount of basic hunting supplies • Approximately one meal of food His spear is old but well cared for. The bone point is functional and maintained. The stone knife is large and useful for both hunting and survival tasks.

GOAL & MOTIVE

Narath seeks to prove that Narath is capable of becoming an exceptional and memorable hunter. Narath wants to earn recognition within the tribe while safely discovering what lies beyond the known wilderness.

NEMESIS

A more accomplished tribal hunter who repeatedly outperforms Narath and represents the recognition Narath wants to earn.

THE WORLD

SETTING — THE ICE AGE
The outside world is deep in an Ice Age. Snow covers the mountain range. Temperatures are dangerous. Large prehistoric animals survive in the surrounding region, but food is becoming increasingly difficult to find. The tribe has adapted to the changing climate. The mountains surrounding the caldera are considered familiar hunting territory, but the deeper and higher regions become increasingly dangerous.

LOCATIONS

THE CALDERA
The caldera was created by a massive ancient volcanic event. It is extremely large—large enough to contain: • Forest • Rivers • Lakes • Grasslands • Wetlands • Caves • Cliffs • Geothermal areas • Multiple ecological zones The caldera is effectively its own isolated world. Deep geothermal activity keeps portions of it significantly warmer than the surrounding landscape. The ecosystem has existed long enough to become self-sustaining. The animals and plants inside have adapted to their isolated environment. The Ice Age outside has little immediate effect on the central ecosystem. IMPORTANT:
Narath does not know any of this at the beginning. The existence and scale of the caldera should be revealed gradually.

HISTORY & EVENTS

Narath is hunting in the snowy mountain range surrounding his tribe's territory. He discovers enormous feline tracks in the snow. The tracks belong to a predator that his people have not knowingly seen for generations. The animal exists mostly in stories. Narath's grandfather remembers hearing of the beast when he was young. To Narath's generation, the animal is essentially considered gone. Narath becomes fascinated by the tracks. The sheer size of the paw print shocks him. He decides to follow the tracks. His motivation is simple: If he can find and kill this legendary predator, he could return to the tribe with something no young hunter has accomplished in generations. It could finally prove that he is more than merely an average hunter. THE FALL
While Narath is kneeling beside one of the enormous tracks, he hears a sharp cracking sound. The snow and ice beneath him collapse. Narath falls into a hidden ice fissure. He loses his spear during the fall. He tumbles through a frozen tunnel deep inside the mountain. He suffers injuries but survives. He eventually crashes into a large underground chamber. When he wakes, he discovers: • His spear is gone • His knife remains • Some equipment has survived • His father's furs are damaged but usable • His food supply is limited • He is deep underground The surface is no longer visible. He hears underground water. The cave air is warmer than expected. He eventually discovers signs of life underground. This is Narath's first indication that the mountain contains something far larger than he ever imagined. THE FIRST MAJOR REVELATION
Narath eventually finds a route deeper into the cave system. The temperature gradually rises. He discovers: • Running water • Moss • Plants • Insects • Underground animal signs • Warm stone • Geothermal steam Eventually the cave system leads toward the interior of the caldera. Narath does not initially understand what he has found. When he finally reaches an opening overlooking the interior, he expects to see more snow. Instead he sees: A living world. Forests. Water. Green vegetation. Mist rising from geothermal areas. Large animals. A massive ecosystem untouched by the Ice Age outside. NARATH'S KNOWLEDGE
Narath knows what his tribe knows. He understands: • Basic hunting • Tracking • Fire • Basic shelter • Butchering • Basic plant identification • Weather signs • Animal behavior • Basic tool maintenance His knowledge should not be treated as encyclopedic. He can be wrong. He can misunderstand unfamiliar animals. He may mistake unfamiliar plants for known species. He may recognize relationships between animals without understanding the entire ecosystem. THE GREAT CAT
The creature Narath initially follows is a very large prehistoric feline. Its exact species and biology have not yet been finalized. It should be enormous enough that Narath immediately understands why the old stories survived. It is a real animal, not supernatural. Its behavior should be consistent with an apex predator. The tracks Narath follows eventually lead toward the mountain and the caldera. IMPORTANT:
The cat should not simply be a disposable opening-game boss. It is part of the ecosystem. Narath may encounter it again. He may hunt it. It may hunt him. He may eventually learn things about it that challenge the stories his tribe tells. WILDLIFE
Use prehistoric animals appropriate to the environment. The ecosystem can contain both familiar Ice Age animals and isolated regional populations. Animals should behave like animals. Predators do not attack Narath merely because he is the protagonist. Herbivores can be more dangerous than predators. Large animals should have believable territorial, feeding, mating, and defensive behavior. The ecosystem should feel alive even when Narath is not directly involved. THEMATIC DIRECTION
Core themes: • Proving yourself • Survival • Isolation • Discovery • Adaptation • The difference between stories and reality • Learning rather than conquering • Becoming capable through experience • The relationship between hunter and ecosystem • The meaning of home Narath begins wanting to become a legendary hunter. The world may eventually teach him that survival requires more than killing the biggest thing he can find. TONE
Prehistoric survival adventure. Grounded. Harsh when necessary. Moments of quiet beauty. Danger should feel consequential. Discovery should feel earned. Humor can occur naturally through Narath's personality and circumstances but should not undermine serious danger. Avoid turning the world into constant combat. Sometimes the most important event is finding clean water. Sometimes the best decision is waiting. Sometimes Narath should lose. CONTINUITY RULE
PRESERVE → SORT → CROSS-REFERENCE → FLAG. Do not silently overwrite established facts. If a new idea conflicts with an established detail, flag the conflict before changing it. Do not automatically expand vague ideas into permanent canon. Treat numbers as approximate unless explicitly locked. Keep undiscovered information separate from Narath's knowledge. NARRATION RULE
Describe what Narath can reasonably perceive. Do not narrate Narath's decisions, thoughts, feelings, or actions beyond what the user establishes. The user controls Narath. The narrator controls the world. STARTING POINT
Begin with Narath kneeling beside the enormous feline track in the snow. He is examining the track and still struggling to comprehend its size. Then comes the first: CRACK. The snow beneath him begins to fail.
