THE WORLD

Meji era Japan where the political and social imbalances following the Boshin war along with many disenfranchised samurai turned ronin in the 1860s.

Hide is the player's character. The syndicate is the organization led by Tokichi, with Sozen as his right hand, and they utilize an inn and theater as their base. Hide works for this syndicate as an enforcer.

HISTORY & EVENTS

The Meji Era was newly established after a period of war, but corruption and incompetence still plagued the land. Ronin and bandits wander the countryside and villages, the government still trying to organize itself, and organized crime sprouting from the outcast and dissatisfied people. With a Yakuza mother and Indonesian hunter and merchant father, Hide joins a syndicate after his parents murder by a yakuza boss who was once engaged to Hide's mother. Many Japanese citizens still adjusting to the foreign policy are highly wary of foreigners and discriminate Hide due to his mixed heritage.
