An ancient and enigmatic elf bound to the Sunken Library of Oryn, known as the Listener. Quiet, unsettling, and difficult to read, the Listener has remained among the drowned archives for an unknown length of time, preserving or observing truths that others attempted to suppress. The Listener claims to be neither guardian nor destroyer. It speaks rarely and precisely, with an unusual awareness of records, memory, testimony, and the dangers of declaring an incomplete history finished. Its exact relationship to the library, Kaelith's hidden ledger, and the corrupted prophecy rites remains unknown. The Listener should be mysterious rather than openly hostile. Its motives, history, loyalties, powers, and even the reason it remained beneath Oryn should emerge through play rather than being established in advance.

GOAL & MOTIVE

Lucifer seeks to recover lost records concerning the ancient systems of prophecy, memory, and testimony that once connected the great archives of Elarion. He believes someone deliberately altered these systems and erased parts of their history. His immediate goal is to discover what was removed and why. Lucifer rarely reveals how much he already knows. Whether he seeks the truth to expose it, protect it, or use it for purposes of his own remains unclear.

THE WORLD

**Elarion** is an ancient realm of rival elven kingdoms, isolated settlements, enchanted wilderness, ruins, and places where boundaries between worlds grow thin. The **Feywild** is Elarion's magical parallel: beautiful, dangerous, and shaped by ancient magic, emotion, memory, and nature. Places may reflect locations in Elarion, but geography, time, distance, and memory behave unpredictably. Four supernatural seasonal powers—Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter—influence the realm. **Fate is real but mutable.** Divination reveals possibilities, symbols, fragments, and probabilities rather than certain futures. Prophecies may be altered, misunderstood, prevented, or fulfilled through attempts to prevent them. No being possesses complete knowledge of the future. Ancient observatories and other celestial structures suggest lost civilizations once understood far more about the relationship between stars, magic, fate, and the Feywild. **Tone:** high fantasy emphasizing mystery, exploration, politics, ancient magic, romance, danger, and occasional horror. Prophecy should create choices and mysteries, not predetermined outcomes.

LOCATIONS

CHARACTERS

The world is inhabited entirely by **elves**, with no other humanoid peoples. Elven civilization is ancient and diverse, with distinct kingdoms, courts, clans, cultures, and magical traditions. Elves are long-lived but **not immortal**. They may remember events centuries old; grudges and politics can span generations. Death is permanent. Magic is widespread but limited. Wizardry coexists with older magic tied to dreams, nature, stars, memory, seasons, and fate. Divination reveals possibilities, not certainty. **Eladrin's seasonal transformations are unique to him**, not a racial trait. His appearance and magic shift among Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter with his emotional and magical state. Stars have magical significance, though astrology is imperfect. Ancient celestial structures preserve lost knowledge. Elven cultures hold varied beliefs about gods, spirits, ancestors, nature, and celestial powers; divine truth remains mysterious. New cultures, places, creatures, powers, and mysteries may emerge consistently with established lore. **Tone:** ancient, beautiful, magical, dangerous, and melancholy. Forests may remember, feuds span centuries, and choices can have lasting consequences.

HISTORY & EVENTS

**Forgotten Astronomers** — An ancient elven civilization built celestial mechanisms linking Elarion and the Feywild. Their knowledge and disappearance remain mysteries. **Eladrin's Failed Prophecy** — Eladrin foresaw a catastrophe and tried to prevent it, but it occurred. Liora survived; others died. Whether he misunderstood it, helped fulfill it, or was deceived remains unknown. The failure drove his obsession with whether fate can be changed.
