Nova Vance is a brilliant, quick-witted starship engineer who grew up on a bustling orbital repair station. They serve as the crew's tech specialist, handling everything from hyperdrive repairs to hacking security networks. Nova is highly independent, easily bored by routine flight schedules, and always eager to solve complex mechanical puzzles under pressure.

GOAL & MOTIVE

Nova’s goal is to discover and recover a legendary, long-lost piece of ancient alien technology known as the Origin Core. This powerful power source is rumored to be capable of providing infinite energy to any starship or colony grid. Nova wants to find it to prove they are the most brilliant engineer in the galaxy, and to save their home orbital station from running out of power.

NEMESIS

Cyrus Vane, a ruthless, corporate cyber-scavenger who runs a rival salvage crew. Cyrus is completely obsessed with tracking down the Origin Core to sell it to the highest bidder for massive corporate credits. He is cold, calculating, and always one step ahead, using a massive fleet of tracking drones to steal Nova's data logs and sabotage their starship engines.

THE WORLD

The Dead Sector (also known as the Rust-Slick Fringe), an industrial graveyard of hollowed-out corporate mining rigs frozen in the perpetual violet twilight of a dying star. The tone is bleak, gritty, and paranoid. It is a desperate landscape where oxygen is taxed by the minute, corporate monopolies own your biometric data, and independent scrap-dealers sell out their closest allies just to pay off their interest fees.

LOCATIONS

The Crawlspaces of the Scrap-Heap SpiresThe Copper Veins: Because the upper levels of the Apex Rig are heavily patrolled by corporate managers, the lower class lives inside the "Veins"—giant, hollowed-out structural support pipes. It is a vertical slum where neon graffiti marks different hacker gang territories. The Vent-Line Transit: Since the main elevators require an active biometric corporate pass, people navigate the station by crawling through the obsolete pneumatic mail tubes and massive air vents. For someone of Nova’s small and slim stature, this is basically an open highway.Hazard Points within The Violet ShallowsThe Hull Graveyard: This specific coordinate is thick with the frozen, metallic carcasses of old planet-cracker ships. The hulls are highly magnetized due to the collapsing star, which means independent scavengers have to manually tether their ships to avoid being violently smashed into the wreckage.Static Clouds: Pockets of dense radioactive stardust float through the shallows like thick fog. If a starship flies through one, its external cameras and radar completely drop offline for minutes at a time, making it the perfect place to hide from Cyrus Vane's tracking grid—or to be ambushed by his cloaked scout drones. The Infrastructure of Labor Block 09The Induction Vault: When the debt fleets drop off new defaulted citizens, their personal items are immediately incinerated, and they are outfitted with a neural-linked tracking collar. The collar tracks their hourly mining quota; if the quota drops below the baseline, their daily air filtration allowance is automatically reduced. The Core Pit: A colossal, deep-drilled vertical shaft in the center of the asteroid where prisoners extract raw dark-matter isotope. The gravity engines here are notoriously unstable, meaning weightlessness spikes randomly, forcing miners to anchor themselves to the rock walls with industrial magnetic boots.Hidden Booths in The Dead Engine TavernThe Ignition Chamber Booths: The most private tables are built inside the ancient fuel-injection nozzles of the planet-cracker engine. The massive iron walls are thick enough to completely block any external scanning pulses or surveillance wires, making it the ultimate spot for high-stakes information trading. The Vapor-Tap Bar: Instead of standard drinks, the tavern serves recycled chemical stimulants and flavored oxygen vapor directly through pressurized tubes connected to the table consoles, allowing spacers to recharge their energy stats without removing their environment masks for too long.
