Elijah Hunter grew up in Kingston, Ontario, the son of a paramedic and a Canadian Armed Forces engineer. His parents raised him with one principle that would eventually define his life: “Having the power to help someone means you have the responsibility to do it.” Eli took those words seriously. As a teenager, he became fascinated with emergency medicine and the outdoors. He spent his summers camping throughout Ontario and eventually joined search-and-rescue programs. After university, he enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces, where he trained as a combat medic. Eli wasn't the strongest soldier in his unit. He wasn't the fastest. He wasn't even the most experienced. But he was the one people trusted when everything went wrong. And everything eventually did go wrong. During a winter rescue mission in Northern Ontario, Eli's team was sent to investigate a remote research facility that had suddenly stopped communicating. The facility belonged to Northstar Biotechnologies, a private Canadian company secretly conducting experimental research into human cellular regeneration. The team arrived during a brutal snowstorm. Inside the facility, they discovered that something had gone horribly wrong. A containment chamber had ruptured. The researchers had been experimenting with an experimental biological compound known as Project AEGIS, designed to stimulate the body's natural ability to repair damaged cells. Instead of simply repairing tissue, the compound appeared to fundamentally alter it. When the containment system failed, the facility began to collapse. Eli found several injured researchers trapped inside. Rather than evacuate, he went back for them. Again. And again. On his final trip into the facility, an explosion tore through the laboratory. Eli was thrown into the AEGIS containment chamber. His teammates watched helplessly as the chamber filled with the experimental compound. Eli should have died. Instead, his body changed. Eli was unconscious for three days. When he finally opened his eyes, the first thing he heard was a nurse's heartbeat. Then another. Then another. He could hear conversations occurring several rooms away. He could smell antiseptic from the hallway. He could see individual particles floating through the sunlight coming through the window. His body felt different. Stronger. Faster. Alive in a way he had never experienced before. When he attempted to get out of bed, he accidentally bent the steel railing beside him. The doctors were stunned. The Canadian government became interested very quickly. Northstar wanted its experiment back. Eli refused. He disappeared before anyone could force him into becoming a government experiment. For months, Eli struggled with his new abilities. His enhanced senses were almost unbearable. A crowded room became a wall of voices. A busy street became a storm of smells and sounds. His strength made ordinary objects dangerous. He accidentally destroyed a door simply by opening it. But Eli slowly learned to control himself. Then came the moment that changed everything. A school bus crashed on an icy Ontario highway. Eli happened to be nearby. He heard the crash before anyone else. He ran toward it. The bus was hanging partially over a ravine. Inside were twenty-three children. Eli climbed onto the wreckage and began pulling them out one by one. When the bus finally broke loose, Eli held onto the vehicle long enough for every child to escape. Someone recorded the rescue. The video went viral. People didn't know who he was. They only knew what he had done. A reporter asked one of the rescued children what the mysterious man looked like. The child replied: “He looked like justice.” The name stuck. Eli eventually created a simple identity. No cape. No flashy costume. No desire for fame. His first suit was built from modified search-and-rescue equipment, reinforced tactical materials, and pieces of his old military gear. The Canadian maple leaf became part of his symbol—not because he believed Canada was perfect, but because he believed in the people who lived there. His symbol became a stylized red maple leaf surrounded by a silver shield. His philosophy was simple: Justice isn't about punishment. Justice is about protecting people who can't protect themselves.

NORTHSTAR - The corporation responsible for Project AEGIS. Northstar publicly claims that AEGIS was destroyed. It wasn't. The company has secretly continued its research, attempting to recreate Justice. Their goal is to create an army of enhanced soldiers. THE WARDEN - A former Northstar scientist who believes humanity must be controlled to survive. The Warden possesses an incomplete version of the AEGIS enhancement, giving him increased strength and durability—but driving him increasingly unstable. He considers Justice a failed prototype. BLACKFROST - A mysterious mercenary who specializes in hunting enhanced individuals. Nobody knows his real identity. He has one obsession: Prove that Justice can be killed.
