He is a ranger shaped by the endless white of the High North, lean and weathered rather than bulky, with the quiet endurance of someone who has spent years tracking across glaciers and taiga. He favors practical, layered northern gear: a heavy fur-lined cloak of white wolf and seal that blends into snow, reinforced leather armor dyed in muted grays and blues, and boots lined with felt and fur. Over it he wears a hooded mantle and carries a small satchel of trail rations, cold-iron arrowheads, and herbal poultices against frostbite and poison. A simple token of the North, a carved wooden polar bear, made of some kind of Arctic Larch, hangs at his throat. At his hips ride a matched pair of hand axes, broad-bladed, single-bearded northern styles with leather-wrapped grips and small metal spikes on the butts for ice climbing. Across his back rests a sturdy longbow of pale northern yew, strung with sinew, and a quiver of arrows fletched in white and gray. His constant partner is a polar bear named Skadi (or simply “the White One”). Smaller than a normal polar bear, about the size of a black bear, but she is built for the deep cold: thick double coat of pure white fur that can vanish against snowdrifts, paws that act like natural snowshoes, and eyes the color of a black abyss. Scars mark her muzzle and flanks from past battles with remorhazes, yetis, and winter wolves.

GOAL & MOTIVE

Kael the White-Cloak works with a larger order of Rangers who work as guardians in remote places. He specializes in the Northern Tundra and Arctic regions of the Empire protecting the pioneers and settlers making this unforgiving place home, because of this he is solitary and also seeks to survive the harsh northern wilderness while protecting the bond with the polar bear companion.
