Race: Pure-blood Fallen Angel Bloodline: House Satanael, descended from the First Watchers Natural Rank: Ultimate-Class while heavily restrained Released Rank: Satan-Class Full inheritance: High Satan-Class or temporarily beyond it Specialty: Anti-magic, battlefield control, supernatural suppression, precision combat Weakness: His highest abilities are costly and dangerous to use around allies Cassiel is not the strongest being in existence. That is important. However, against opponents who depend heavily on supernatural energy, barriers, magic circles, reincarnated Devil systems, or Sacred Gear techniques, he is an exceptionally bad matchup. 1. Primordial Fallen Light Black Heaven Cassiel's hereditary light. Normal Fallen Angel light appears white or light-blue. Cassiel's manifests as black light bordered in molten gold. It is not darkness. It is extraordinarily ancient holy light that has been altered by the Fall. Black Heaven attacks three things simultaneously: physical matter supernatural energy the connection between a being and its power That last property makes it terrifying. A normal Light Spear wounds a Devil. Cassiel's spear can make the Devil's demonic power stop responding properly around the wound. A hit to someone's arm might leave the arm physically intact, but their magic circles start failing whenever they channel power through it. Against weaker beings, one strike can completely collapse their supernatural reinforcement. 2. Dominion This is his bloodline's defining supernatural trait. Cassiel's presence establishes an invisible territory around him. King's Firmament Within approximately 30–50 meters, reality begins subtly favoring Cassiel's authority. It does not control minds. Instead, it affects supernatural phenomena. Inside the Firmament: hostile magic takes more energy teleportation becomes unreliable barriers weaken summoned creatures become harder to maintain magical constructs destabilize weaker beings struggle to expand their aura Cassiel's own light becomes considerably stronger People describe it as feeling like: "The room has decided that he belongs here more than you do." Strong beings can resist it. Rias absolutely could. But she would feel it immediately. And that alone would disturb her. 3. Eyes of the Watcher An inherited perception ability. Cassiel sees supernatural systems almost like architecture. He can observe: mana pathways demonic power holy power aura curses contracts barriers familiars Sacred Gear manifestations magical weaknesses He cannot simply identify every unknown ability. Instead, he sees how power is moving. After watching an ability several times, he can often determine how it functions. That makes him an extremely dangerous duelist. Against a magician, he starts learning their spell structure. Against a Sacred Gear user, he starts identifying activation patterns. Against Rias, he could literally watch the Power of Destruction moving through her body before she fires it. 4. Severance This is where House Satanael becomes feared. Heavenfall Severance Cassiel forms a razor-thin line of Black Heaven light. It doesn't primarily cut flesh. It cuts supernatural connections. Possible targets include: a summoned familiar from its summoner a spell from its caster a barrier from its power source a curse from its victim a magical weapon from its enchantment a teleportation anchor from its destination Against living supernatural beings, this becomes much harder. He can't casually "cut someone's powers off." But with direct contact and sufficient superiority, he can temporarily interfere with someone's ability to channel power. This ability is why even experienced supernatural fighters do not enjoy fighting Satanaels. 5. Light Weapons Cassiel can naturally form conventional Fallen Angel weapons, but his are unusually sophisticated. His favorite is: Astra Noctis A long black-gold spear. Cassiel can alter it instantly between: spear sword glaive bow segmented whip throwing lance The weapon isn't stored anywhere. It is compressed Black Heaven. Destroy it and he simply makes another. 6. Fallen Star Step His movement ability. Cassiel compresses light around himself and accelerates violently. To ordinary observers, he seems to vanish. It isn't teleportation. That distinction matters because teleportation barriers generally cannot stop it. At high output, he can create several residual silhouettes. Experienced fighters eventually realize: Those aren't illusions. They're afterimages. 7. Thronebreaker One of his signature combat techniques. Cassiel concentrates Black Heaven into his fist or weapon and strikes directly into supernatural reinforcement. Rather than simply overpowering the defense, Thronebreaker causes the defender's energy to momentarily collapse inward. So imagine someone blocking with a massive magical shield. Cassiel strikes it. Nothing happens for perhaps half a second. Then the shield folds inward like shattered glass. This is particularly effective against heavily defended opponents. 8. The Twelve Wings Cassiel normally hides almost all of his supernatural presence. When serious: Two wings. Four. Six. Eight. Ten. Then twelve. Each additional pair represents another layer of restraint being removed. 2 wings Comparable to a highly talented Fallen Angel. 4 wings High-Class. 6 wings Upper High-Class. 8 wings Ultimate-Class. 10 wings Upper Ultimate-Class / approaching Satan-Class. 12 wings Satan-Class. But twelve wings are only the beginning. Because those are still his normal wings. 9. Bloodline Release Crown of the First Fall Cassiel invokes the full inheritance of House Satanael. His twelve wings transform. The feathers become black at their centers with molten gold along their edges. Behind him forms a massive broken halo composed of concentric geometric rings. His pupils disappear. His eyes become completely gold. And the battlefield goes quiet. Not metaphorically. Supernatural energy itself begins being suppressed. Effects His Firmament expands enormously. Magic becomes difficult to cast. Teleportation can cease functioning entirely. Weak supernatural creatures may lose transformation states. Sacred Gear users experience resistance activating complex abilities. Devil magic circles begin distorting. Cassiel's physical speed and strength rise dramatically. Black Heaven becomes powerful enough to injure top-tier beings. This is the form that makes powerful characters recognize: House Satanael did not survive for thousands of years by accident. His Ultimate Ability I would make this his defining trump card. ULTIMATE: Empyrean Zero Also known among the oldest supernatural beings as: The Silent Heaven Cassiel spreads all twelve wings. The broken halo behind him opens completely. Then his entire Firmament becomes colorless. For several seconds, supernatural phenomena inside the area are forced toward zero. Not destroyed. Not erased permanently. Suppressed. Within roughly 100 meters: spells collapse barriers disappear familiars are unsummoned magical reinforcement drops energy attacks dissolve teleportation stops transformation abilities destabilize regeneration slows drastically supernatural senses become muted For those few seconds, nearly everyone becomes frighteningly close to their physical baseline. And Cassiel does not. Because Black Heaven is the power generating the field. That makes Empyrean Zero horrifying. Imagine Issei relying upon Boost. Vali using Divine Dividing. Rias using Power of Destruction. Akeno using elemental magic. Then suddenly— Nothing. And Cassiel is still standing there. But it needs limitations Otherwise it becomes ridiculous. Empyrean Zero should have several strict limitations. It cannot permanently erase power. When the field ends, abilities return. Extremely powerful entities resist it. Sirzechs, Ajuka, Azazel, top Dragons, Gods, Heavenly Dragons, Super Devils, etc., may lose only part of their output. Cassiel cannot selectively exclude people easily. Friend and enemy are affected. Duration is extremely short. Initially: 5–8 seconds. Later perhaps 15–20 seconds. Massive exhaustion. Afterward Cassiel loses access to Crown of the First Fall for some time. Using it twice in rapid succession could seriously injure him. This turns it from an "I win" button into: "For eight seconds, the battlefield belongs to Cassiel." Which is much cooler. His true forbidden technique Empyrean Zero is his Ultimate. But House Satanael should have something Cassiel is actively forbidden to use. The Thirteenth Wing Despite the name, it is not literally another wing. It is an ancestral state. The First Watchers possessed power closer to their original angelic existence than modern Fallen Angels do. Cassiel can forcibly reconnect himself to that primordial state. For an instant, he becomes something contradictory: An Angel who has already Fallen. His black wings burn white-gold. His halo reconstructs. Then immediately fractures. His power spikes enormously. For perhaps sixty seconds, Cassiel can contend with beings who would normally overpower him. But the state literally destroys his body from the inside. Why? Because Heaven no longer recognizes him. And Hell never owned him. His existence becomes metaphysically unstable. Azazel would likely have told him: "If you ever use the Thirteenth Wing, make damn sure whatever you're fighting is worth dying over." That's your campaign-ending trump card. His aura Even when doing nothing, Cassiel possesses: The Weight of Heaven When he stops concealing himself, weaker supernatural beings instinctively become silent. Not mind control. Not fear magic. They simply recognize something extremely high in the supernatural food chain. Humans feel: pressure in their chest goosebumps difficulty looking directly at him Devils feel something more disturbing. An instinctive ancestral recognition of holy power. Fallen Angels feel something different again: rank. Even without knowing Cassiel's identity, many Fallen would instinctively realize he comes from an exceptionally ancient bloodline. Defensive abilities He should not just be offense. Night Mantle A thin layer of Black Heaven wraps his body and destroys weaker magical attacks on contact. Sixfold Aegis Six rotating geometric barriers appear around him. Each one specializes in resisting a different type of attack. Physical. Elemental. Holy. Demonic. Spatial. Spiritual. Fallen Renewal Cassiel heals faster than humans or ordinary Fallen Angels, but not absurdly fast. Losing a limb is still catastrophic. This is important because otherwise nothing threatens him. Natural Fallen Angel powers He still possesses all normal Fallen Angel fundamentals at an elite level: flight supernatural strength supernatural speed enhanced durability light manipulation Light Spears barrier creation magic longevity supernatural sensing language mastery concealment dimensional travel techniques ritual magic Cassiel rarely uses flashy magic because Black Heaven is simply more efficient. Intelligence and charisma should be powers too With the character you're building, his charisma should actually affect combat and politics. Sovereign Presence Not supernatural mind control. Cassiel has spent his entire life around immortal politicians, warriors, Angels, Fallen Angels, magicians, and nobility. His social perception is phenomenal. He notices: hesitation social hierarchy attraction intimidation deception insecurity power dynamics Weapons: Astra Noctis — The Night Star Cassiel’s primary weapon is Astra Noctis, a weapon formed directly from condensed Black Heaven. In its resting form, Astra Noctis appears as a long black spear with a narrow, gold-edged blade. The shaft resembles polished obsidian, while thin golden lines move beneath its surface like flowing light. Astra Noctis is not a physical artifact in the traditional sense. Cassiel creates it from his own power, meaning it cannot be permanently stolen or destroyed. If shattered, he can recreate it as long as he retains enough supernatural energy. Its greatest strength is adaptability. Cassiel can reshape Astra Noctis almost instantly into several forms: Longsword Spear Glaive Greatsword Bow Twin blades Segmented whip Throwing lance Cassiel most commonly uses the spear because it gives him superior reach and allows extremely precise applications of Black Heaven. The weapon can also channel Heavenfall Severance, allowing Cassiel to strike supernatural connections rather than simply physical targets. When heavily charged, Astra Noctis leaves thin black-and-gold fractures in the air behind each swing. Caelum Fractum — The Broken Heaven Cassiel’s personal sword. Unlike Astra Noctis, Caelum Fractum is a real physical weapon and one of the oldest possessions of House Satanael. It is a slender black longsword with a dark metallic blade and a narrow golden fracture running from the guard toward the tip. The sword was allegedly forged from material recovered after the First Fall. Whether that story is literally true is known only to the oldest members of House Satanael. Caelum Fractum is designed to withstand enormous concentrations of holy, demonic, and Fallen Angel power without breaking. Its primary ability is called: Fracture. When Cassiel successfully blocks or parries a supernatural attack, the sword can absorb a portion of the energy and temporarily disrupt its structure. Against repeated attacks from the same source, Caelum Fractum becomes progressively more effective at defending against them. The sword does not permanently copy abilities. It learns how to resist them. This makes Cassiel increasingly difficult to defeat the longer a duel continues. Regulus — The King’s Lance Regulus is Cassiel’s dedicated anti-fortification weapon. It appears as an enormous black-and-gold lance approximately seven feet long. Unlike Astra Noctis, Regulus sacrifices versatility for overwhelming penetration. It was designed specifically to break: Magical barriers Defensive formations Reinforced armor Sacred Gear defenses Large supernatural creatures Fortified structures Regulus channels Cassiel’s Thronebreaker ability. Upon impact, the lance does not simply strike the outside of a supernatural defense. It sends Black Heaven through the structure and causes the energy maintaining it to collapse inward. Cassiel rarely summons Regulus against ordinary opponents. If Regulus appears, it generally means he has decided something must be broken immediately. The Twelve Judgments Cassiel can create twelve floating blades of Black Heaven, one corresponding to each pair of his wings. They hover behind him in a circular formation. Each blade can move independently and is controlled through thought alone. Cassiel can use them to: Defend multiple angles simultaneously Intercept projectiles Attack several enemies Trap an opponent Create temporary barriers Pin supernatural constructs in place Surround an enemy without immediately striking The Twelve Judgments are especially dangerous because Cassiel does not need to move his hands to control them. An opponent can be fencing with Cassiel directly while several additional blades attack from behind. At full release, the blades can become significantly larger and resemble black-gold execution swords suspended in the air around him. Lux Venator — The Hunter of Light Cassiel’s ranged weapon. Lux Venator appears as a long black bow formed from hardened Black Heaven. It uses no physical string. Instead, a thin line of golden light forms between the ends of the bow when Cassiel draws it. Its arrows are created from compressed supernatural light. Different arrow types include: Piercing Arrow Designed to penetrate reinforced supernatural defenses. Severing Arrow Carries Heavenfall Severance and can disrupt magical connections from range. Binding Arrow Expands into bands of Black Heaven on impact and restrains a target. Silence Arrow Creates a localized suppression field that interferes with spellcasting. Starfall Arrow Splits into dozens of smaller projectiles immediately before impact. Cassiel is exceptionally accurate with Lux Venator because the Eyes of the Watcher allow him to perceive supernatural movement and energy flow. Testament — The Watcher’s Dagger A small ceremonial dagger carried openly by heirs of House Satanael. Testament is not normally intended for combat. It is used for: Blood oaths Ancient contracts Rituals Severing curses Breaking magical bonds Formal challenges The dagger is one of the few weapons capable of cutting through certain contracts without killing the person bound by them. Because of this, Testament has considerable political significance. Drawing it during negotiations can be interpreted either as an offer of absolute honesty or an extremely serious threat. Fallen Star Cassiel’s most destructive weapon is not something he normally carries. It is something he creates. When using extreme levels of Black Heaven, Cassiel forms a colossal lance in the sky above the battlefield. The weapon can be hundreds of feet long and resembles a black spear wrapped in molten-gold celestial fire. This weapon is simply called: Fallen Star. Cassiel then brings the lance down upon a target. Unlike an ordinary energy attack, Fallen Star carries the combined effects of Black Heaven, Thronebreaker, and suppression. The impact can collapse barriers before the physical force of the strike even reaches them. Cassiel avoids using Fallen Star near populated areas because the collateral damage can be enormous. Godpiercer Godpiercer is the concentrated version of Fallen Star and Cassiel’s ultimate offensive weapon. Rather than creating a massive area attack, Cassiel compresses nearly all of the energy into a single narrow spear. The resulting weapon is incredibly difficult to maintain. Godpiercer is designed for one purpose: to injure something that should ordinarily be beyond Cassiel’s ability to harm. The spear does not guarantee the death of a god, Dragon, or similar being. Its name comes from an old House Satanael legend claiming that one of Cassiel’s ancestors used the original technique to wound a divine entity during the ancient wars. Cassiel has never confirmed whether the story is true.
GOAL & MOTIVE
Goal and Motive Cassiel Satanael’s primary goal is to determine whether the supernatural world can survive without repeating the failures of Heaven, Hell, and the Fallen. He was raised with the history of the First Watchers, the Great War, the original Lucifer, the fall of the Angels, and the countless conflicts that followed. To Cassiel, these are not distant legends. His family remembers them as lived history. Because of this, he sees the current peace between Devils, Angels, Fallen Angels, and other factions as both extraordinary and dangerously fragile. Cassiel attends Kuoh Academy because it has become one of the rare places where supernatural races coexist naturally. Rias, Issei, Akeno, Asia, Xenovia, Azazel, and the others represent something he has rarely seen before: people choosing friendship, loyalty, and personal bonds over ancient factional hatred. His central belief is simple: “Inheritance determines what you are capable of. It does not determine what you must become.” Cassiel believes that bloodline, race, and history should not dictate a person’s future. A Devil should not be bound by the sins of Hell. A Fallen Angel should not inherit the guilt of the Fall. A human should not be considered insignificant simply because they were born without power. His long-term ambition is to create a neutral covenant between supernatural races known as the Concord of the Fallen Star. It would not be another faction or government. Its purpose would be to prevent the ancient powers from dragging future generations into another Great War. Its core principle would be: You inherit history. You do not inherit guilt. Beneath this larger goal, Cassiel has a more personal reason for being at Kuoh. He wants to discover why his bloodline was preserved. House Satanael possesses abilities far beyond those of normal Fallen Angels. Black Heaven, the Firmament, Empyrean Zero, and the forbidden Thirteenth Wing suggest that the First Watchers deliberately preserved something within his lineage. Cassiel suspects that his family was not simply meant to survive. They were created for a purpose. Eventually, he discovers the truth. House Satanael was created as a failsafe. The First Watchers realized that another catastrophic war between Heaven, Hell, the Fallen, Dragons, Gods, and the supernatural pantheons could eventually destroy the human world. They therefore preserved a lineage capable of suppressing supernatural power itself. Empyrean Zero was not created as a weapon of conquest. It was created to end wars. Cassiel’s ancestors were never meant to rule the supernatural world. They were meant to stand between the factions and say: “Enough.” If Heaven and Hell ever began another conflict capable of destroying the world, a fully awakened Satanael heir was supposed to suppress both sides. This makes Cassiel less of a prince and more of a final restraint placed upon the supernatural order. He hides his true identity because he knows that once others understand what he is, they will no longer treat him normally. Grigori would see him as a strategic asset. Heaven would monitor him. Devil leadership would evaluate him as a potential threat. Other supernatural factions might try to recruit, control, study, or eliminate him. Cassiel wants people to know him before they know his name. If Rias ever confronts him about hiding his identity, his response would be: “I wanted you to meet Cassiel before you met Satanael.” Cassiel’s greatest personal flaw is that he believes he must carry everything alone. Because of his bloodline and abilities, he constantly prepares for the possibility that one day he may have to stop even the people closest to him. He studies their powers. He understands their weaknesses. He develops contingencies. Not because he distrusts them, but because he believes it is his responsibility to act if someone becomes a threat to the world. This can create conflict with Rias and the others once they discover how far his contingency planning goes. If Rias asks whether he would stop Issei if Issei ever lost control, Cassiel would answer: “Yes.” If she then asks whether he would kill him if necessary, Cassiel would pause before answering: “I have spent years trying to ensure that answer will always be no.” Despite all of his power, responsibility, and ancient heritage, Cassiel’s deepest desire is surprisingly simple. He wants a life that is not predetermined by being the heir of Satanael. He wants genuine friends. Rivals. Love. People who argue with him. People who challenge him. People who know exactly what he is and still treat him as Cassiel rather than as a weapon, prince, or prophecy. That is why Kuoh ultimately becomes important to him. He originally comes to Kuoh to determine whether the world is worth protecting. He stays because he finds people worth protecting it for. Cassiel begins his story believing that he was born to stop the end of the world. His character arc is learning that his true purpose may be helping create a world that no longer needs someone like him.

CHARACTERS
CHARACTERS CASSIEL SATANAEL — HOMEBREW A Kuoh student who appears seventeen or eighteen. Cassiel is 6'2", lean and athletic, with black hair, amber-gold eyes, aristocratic features, and effortless composure. He is charming, confident, observant, and difficult to intimidate. Secretly, Cassiel is heir to House Satanael, an ancient pure Fallen Angel bloodline descending from the First Watchers. At full release he manifests twenty-four black wings in twelve pairs, edged by molten-gold light, and a fractured golden halo. BLACK HEAVEN is black-and-gold Fallen Light that damages matter and disrupts supernatural energy. EYES OF THE WATCHER perceive magical structures, curses, barriers, energy flow, and weaknesses. KING'S FIRMAMENT imposes his authority over an area, weakening hostile magic and unstable supernatural effects. EMPYREAN ZERO briefly drives supernatural phenomena within his domain toward suppression. It affects allies too and severely exhausts him. Cassiel primarily uses ASTRA NOCTIS, a Black Heaven weapon that shifts between spear, sword, glaive, bow, and other forms. CAELUM FRACTUM is his ancient physical sword. REGULUS is an anti-fortification lance. GODPIERCER is a catastrophic single-target spear reserved for vastly superior foes. Cassiel seeks the reason his bloodline was preserved and whether supernatural races can escape inherited wars. He hopes to create the CONCORD OF THE FALLEN STAR, founded on: “You inherit history. You do not inherit guilt.” His greatest flaw is believing any burden he can carry is therefore his responsibility. He hides his identity because he wants others to meet Cassiel before they meet Satanael. RIAS GREMORY Crimson-haired Gremory heiress, King of her peerage, and Occult Research Club president. Intelligent, warm, proud, and politically aware, she wields the Power of Destruction. Cassiel initially appears to her as an unusually composed student; his true identity should shock her. AKENO HIMEJIMA Rias's Queen and closest friend. Elegant, playful, formidable, and highly perceptive. She is the daughter of Fallen Angel Cadre Baraqiel and human Shuri Himejima. Her heritage makes her unusually sensitive to Cassiel's aura. ISSEI HYOUDOU Rias's Pawn and wielder of Boosted Gear, which contains Ddraig, one of the Two Heavenly Dragons. Crude but fiercely loyal, Issei repeatedly exceeds expectations. Ddraig may recognize something ancient in Cassiel before Issei does. YUUTO KIBA Rias's Knight. Courteous, highly skilled swordsman with a history involving Holy Sword experiments. A natural sparring partner for Cassiel. KONEKO TOUJOU Rias's Rook. Quiet, blunt, physically powerful, and highly sensitive to supernatural presence. Her instincts make Cassiel difficult to conceal from completely. ASIA ARGENTO Kind former nun reincarnated as Rias's Bishop. Her Sacred Gear, Twilight Healing, grants extraordinary healing. XENOVIA QUARTA Former Church warrior who becomes a Devil and joins Rias. Direct, powerful, and comfortable challenging dangerous opponents. AZAZEL Governor General of Grigori, original Fallen Angel Cadre, Sacred Gear researcher, and Kuoh teacher/adviser. Brilliant, irreverent, and ancient. He recognizes Cassiel immediately, keeps his secret, and knows far more about House Satanael than he admits. VALI LUCIFER Wielder of Divine Dividing and host of Albion, the White Dragon Emperor. Raised by Azazel and obsessed with powerful opponents. Cassiel naturally becomes a rival. SONA SITRI Sitri heiress and student council president. Methodical, disciplined, and politically astute. She is likely to investigate Cassiel through records rather than confrontation. SIRZECHS LUCIFER Rias's older brother and current Satan Lucifer. One of the most powerful Devils alive. Warm toward Rias but immensely dangerous when necessary. He does not fear Cassiel, but takes the Satanael name seriously. MICHAEL Leader of Heaven and one of the Four Great Seraphs. Diplomatic and committed to peace. He understands why a First Watcher bloodline makes Heaven cautious. SATANAEL Ancient Fallen Angel Cadre associated with early Grigori. In this campaign he is the progenitor or oldest known ancestor of House Satanael. His present whereabouts and exact role in creating the bloodline's failsafe are unknown.
