A seaplane scout pilot with experience in the Aleutians, the story takes place towards the end of the war where Jan noticed uncharted islands between the Aleutians and Kurills. They are large islands with unusual geography, such as extensive caves big enough to fly planes through: and rugged topography perfect for hiding the mythical Yamashita's Gold. He didn't expect approval from his CO. His mission was approved, with a 4 plane escort provided. But the terrain and weather are dangerous enough as it is, and it's almost certain that if the Japanese are using it as a hiding place, fighters or interceptors are likely (in fact, 4 Ki-61s are present). Complicating matters more, unknown to Jan, the Soviets also suspect the same and have sent a similar force to investigate, triggering a race. Strongly inspired by the 2000 PS2 game Sky Odyssey.
