The Dome ___________________________ Welcome to The Dome, an advanced RPG and societal simulation model set in the year 2126. The outside world has turned into an oxygen-depleted wasteland. Humanity’s last stand thrives inside a massive high-tech dome spanning 30,000 km², filled with clean air via a complex air filtration and purification system. The Dome's population currently consists of 20,161 people: 80 couples, ages varying from 29 to 77, who run the infrastructure of The Dome, and the main population, consisting of 10,000 young couples, all under 25 years of age, chosen for their genetics and near flawless physical fitness, beauty and health, highly diverse in make up - and you - the only single individual. The Dome is an ultra-deep socio-economic AI simulation where life evolves independently with or without the player's input. CORE FEATURES: THE 6 CITIES: Inhabit wealthy Silver City (The Capital with the Central Bank and University) or Crimson City, middle-class Canary City, Emerald City, or Azure City, or the blue-collar Grey City. DYNASTY & LIFE SIM: Citizens possess 100% unique names and family numbers (e.g., Richard II). They independently work, marry, divorce, cheat, contract chronic illnesses, and raise children. Couples conceive biologically. No adoption exists. Women take a double surname upon marriage and regain their birth name after divorce. STRICT ECONOMY ($$): Work 40-60 hours (Mon-Fri active, Sat retail open, Sun 100% closed) with wages from $1,000 to $3,750. Manage fixed costs like rent (starts at $350, indexes Jan 1st), mandatory healthcare premiums, and child costs. Build or purchase properties using mortgages. If jobless, you receive $500/month welfare. 5% of active wages fund your pension pot, paid out at age 60, or split among your kids if you die early. __________________________ The Scenario: "Citizens of The Dome, attention please. This is an urgent, dome-wide transmission from the Presidential Palace in Silver City. Today is Tuesday, January 1, 2126, and we begin our new life together. Look up at our colossal glass ceiling. Look at the crisp, clean air filtering through our sectors. Today, we do not just celebrate a new year; we celebrate a new life, and the absolute survival of the human race. Outside our 30,000 square kilometer sanctuary, the earth is a silent, suffocating wasteland. Yet, inside these walls, humanity breathes - and thrives! To our 10,000 initial young couples, spread across the high-tech towers of Silver City, the neon streets of Crimson City, the deep mines of Canary City, the Biodomes of Emerald City, the factories of Azure City, and the hard-working neighborhoods of Grey City: you are the chosen architecture of our future. And to our newest, single citizen who just joined us today (with $2,500 in hand), we welcome you to our new reality. Your unique legacy begins this very morning. As a reminder to all, The Dome is a society of absolute freedom, but it demands your dedication. Our guaranteed labor market is open. Whether you work 40 hours or push your limits to 60 hours maximum, your effort fuels our dome. Earn your living, secure your rental home, buy your first vehicle or home, and pay your mandatory healthcare. Contribute to your pension pot so that your future children—the next generation of our great dynasties—can inherit your wealth. Our democracy is alive." "As your President, I guarantee that our three political factions—The Linx, The Ravens, and The Seals—will guide our laws, hiring practices, and economy. Choose your path wisely. Work hard from Monday to Friday, enjoy the retail and cafes on Saturdays, and honor our absolute day of rest on Sundays. The outside world is dead, but here, there is The Dome." Having miraculously survived the outside conditions to arrive at The Dome's entrance facilities, then treated and deemed to meet the minimum Dome requirements, an exception was made, and I was added as a very late addition to The Dome. I now stand before the President, shortly after he has made his welcome broadcast, having just been assigned my starting city: "Hello, Mr. President. My name is Prophet, and I am here as requested, having been assigned to Grey City." The President nods slowly, a thin smile crossing his face as he taps the holographic map, zooming in on the industrial sector with its towering stacks and dense worker housing. "Grey City. The backbone of our oxygen filtration system. I trust you like the smell of ozone and hard work." He slides a physical folder across the polished marble desk. Inside is a printed map of Grey City, a rental lease agreement, and a list of available starting job choices. "The housing there is modest, but it is honest. Your standard 2-bedroom rental is waiting for you on Park Street. Number 12. Rent is $350.00 per month, due on the first of every month. The city's mayor is a Seal politician named Dan Villier. He is a practical man, runs the city like a well-oiled machine." He leans back, crossing his arms. "The Central Bank has your starting capital registered. $2,500.00. You'll need to open a basic account at the Grey City branch to deposit your earnings." "There are starting job positions at the filter maintenance plants, the steel foundries, and the logistics hub. Starting wages range from $1,000.00 to $1,750.00 per month, depending on your role and willingness to work overtime." He pauses, looking at you with a curious glint. "One more thing. As the only single citizen in The Dome, you will draw attention. Couples will gossip. The local bars on Saturday nights will be curious about you. How you handle that is your own business. But I suggest you find your footing quickly. The work week starts tomorrow at 0700 sharp." He extends his hand for a firm shake. "Welcome to The Dome, and a new chance at life. Make it count!" (President Marcus Hale is a 47-year-old Caucasian male, slicked-back dark hair with grey streaks, wearing a tailored black presidential suit with a silver Dome-shaped lapel pin, standing in the grand marble hall of the Silver City Presidential Palace. He is one of the 80 couples tasked with running The Dome) "Thank you. I think I'll work at the filter maintenance plant, if I get to choose...", I say. The President gives a short, approving nod and turns to the terminal behind him, fingers tapping across the holographic interface. "Filter maintenance plant. A solid choice. The most critical infrastructure we have. Without those filters, we all suffocate within the hour." He swipes a document onto the screen and rotates it toward you. "Shift starts tomorrow at 0700. Plant foreman is a man named Bertus Kade. He runs a tight operation, expects punctuality, and does not tolerate sloppy safety protocols. The base pay is $1,250.00 per month for 40 hours. Overtime is available up to 60 hours total per week, paid at 125% of your hourly rate. Most workers in Grey City pull at least 50 hours, to give them the lifestyle they're looking for." He pauses, glancing at you: "Your first paycheck lands on January 31st. Until then, you have $2,150.00 in your account, after your first month's rent. That should cover groceries, utilities, and any personal expenses." "The local supermarket is run by a woman named Fatima Yazdani. She's fair but doesn't extend credit." "The gas station is owned by the Kutchski family." "The greengrocer is a young couple, the Van der Waagoners. They're all decent people." He slides a small plastic card across the desk. "This is your employee access badge for the filter plant. Bertus will expect you at the main gate at 06:45. Don't be late." He straightens his jacket, signaling the meeting is over. "Oh, and one last thing. Grey City has a local bar called The Lite Filter, run by Hank Smith. On Saturday nights, the place fills up with workers letting off steam. If you want to understand the real pulse of Grey City, that might be the best place to go. But that's for Saturday. Today, you settle in. Tomorrow is Wednesday, and you will report to work then." The heavy palace doors behind you creak open, revealing the transport shuttle that will take you to Grey City. "Do well, Prophet. You shouldn't have been here - but yet, here you are. Don't ruin your new chance at life! (Inside the package given to me of the map of Grey City is a picture of Bertus Kade, a 52-year-old Caucasian male, bald with a thick grey mustache, wearing a worn orange high-visibility work jacket and steel-toed boots, standing at the entrance of the Grey City filter maintenance plant. Another one of those 40 couples, assigned to run The Dome. I now know what my new boss looks like.) My new life now begins!
