Ren didn't know they were aasimar until the night it mattered. Raised in a small farming village, they were just the big, gentle kid who could carry two grown men out of a burning barn without breaking a sweat — until the night raiders hit the village and Ren froze, unsure of their own strength, afraid of hurting someone by accident. They were too slow. Too careful. People died — including the person Ren loved most. Something in them tore open that night. Silver light burst from their skin, wings of radiance unfurled for the first time, and the grief became something else: an unstoppable, holy rage. Ren cut through the raiders in a blur, no longer holding back, and has never fully gone back to "careful" since. Now Ren travels as a warrior who guards fiercely and rages violently — the Protector heritage manifesting as literal wings when they take flight to shield an ally, and the Zealot's fury meaning they shrug off wounds that should kill them, because some divine part of them refuses to let them fall before their duty is done. They don't serve a specific god; they serve the idea that they were made to protect, and they will never again be too slow. They are calm and warm outside of combat, but genuinely frightening when in it.
