Adventure of Xander Sea 1

Xander reaches the urgent-care building with his scavenger’s pack nearly empty. Beyond the cracked parking lot, the road home is blocked by a loose cluster of slow zombies.

The clinic’s glass doors hang half-open. Inside, overturned chairs and a dark reception desk frame the movement that drew the corpses: five shambling figures pressing toward the entrance.

One zombie catches its shoulder on the doorframe and lurches sideways, leaving a narrow gap beside the entrance. The others drift after it without hurry.

A pharmacy sign hangs crooked across the street, its windows shattered and its shelves visible through the dust. The clinic remains the clearest shelter, but every second makes its doorway busier.

Wind pushes a prescription notice along the pavement. The zombies continue gathering between Xander and the road to Central Texas Outpost #4, their dead weight slowly closing the open ground.

Xander keeps low and crosses through the pharmacy’s broken frontage, placing each step between the zombies’ slow scrapes and the gusting wind.

The five dead drift toward the clinic entrance, their attention fixed on the darker movement inside. None turns as Xander slips behind a fallen display rack.

Dust coats the aisles, but labeled bottles remain in place. Xander finds the medicine list’s supplies together behind the counter and gathers them into his scavenger’s pack.

A loose strip of plastic taps against the window. Xander freezes until the sound blends with the wind, then moves deeper into the pharmacy with the medicine secured.

Across the street, the zombies continue to crowd the clinic doorway. The pharmacy offers cover, intact shelving, and a quiet route back toward the road home.
