Adventure of Joshua 1

At the Temple Mount, Israelites gather for Passover beneath banners and stone walls bright with morning light. Priests move among families while prayers rise into the open air.

Joshua stands among the worshippers, his holy sword at his side and the cross upon his back hidden beneath his clothing. Beyond the city, distant horns disturb the feast.

Far north, the Philistine army gathers in dust and bronze, assembling spears, shields, and chariots along the road toward Israel.

From the south, an Ammonite representative reaches the Philistine camp beneath a guarded banner. He dismounts and approaches the commander without bowing.

Joshua’s prayer rises above the Temple Mount. Far north, the bright morning darkens as thunder rolls across the road and the gathered Philistine host looks skyward.

A white pillar of heavenly fire descends upon the army. Dust and smoke swallow the road, chariots break apart, and two-thirds of the Philistine host is destroyed in the sudden blaze.

The surviving Philistines flee north in terror, abandoning weapons and wagons. The thunder fades, leaving scorched earth beyond the city and stunned silence within the holy gathering.

The true believer receives what they asked for.

Joshua draws his cross and falls upon his knees beside the cracked paving. His prayer carries through the dust, and the lamps gutter though no wind passes through the court.

The Israelite priest and two nearby priests seize their heads. Dark, distorted faces press visibly across their features like shadows beneath thin cloth, exposing the demons within.

The shadows wrench free from the priests in silent shapes and rise above them, their outlines plain before the watching crowd. The priests collapse conscious but emptied, while the demons recoil from Joshua’s cross.

The demons scatter into the trembling air and vanish beyond the court. Joshua’s knees scrape against the broken stone, drawing a thin line of blood, but the priests are free.

Joshua remains kneeling on the cracked paving, cross held before him. Dust clings to his bloodied knee as his warning carries through the shaken court.

The believer’s confession draws several listeners closer. Others recoil from Joshua, whispering that his preaching threatens the order of the Temple Mount.

The command carries over the fields. Clouds thin to nothing, wells sink lower by the hour, and northward the Philistine host gathers openly for the appointed seventh day.

Joshua turns westward toward Nazareth, a town within the kingdom of Israel. The road climbs through parched country before descending toward clustered stone houses.

By late afternoon, Joshua enters Nazareth and reaches the town square. Israelite townspeople pause beside stalls and doorways, watching the large warrior arrive beneath the bare sky.

The square quiets around Joshua. Empty jars, dry dust, and anxious faces mark the first day of the judgment, while every road north carries rumors of war.
