Ahora arrives inside the cloning lab as Dunn forces open a warped maintenance passage. Emergency lights pulse across sealed equipment racks and rows of dormant growth chambers.

Move! The recovery team is trapped beyond this bulkhead, and their gear is still inside.

The marine sergeant braces his medium-built athletic frame against the door, close-cropped blond hair bright beneath the red strobes. His weathered face tightens around the scar crossing his features.

The gate is breaking apart. Every burst drops another section of the return route.

Beyond the sealed chamber, the jump gate flashes in disconnected intervals. Each flare briefly reveals a corridor, then collapses into static and blackness.

The passage is newly forced, but the gate damage is spreading.

I am reaching the controls before the Marines lose their only viable path home. Cover me, or find another way through.

Ahora drives through the warped maintenance passage, their massive frame forcing bent panels aside as hot dust and insulation spill around their armored silhouette.

The passage opens into a service junction beside the failing gate controls. Three Marines, three young adult men in battered gray Marine armor: one lean with dark skin, one broad-shouldered with brown skin, and one stocky with pale skin and a red beard huddle behind a ruptured equipment rack, alive and clutching their recovered gear.

There! Sergeant, we have eyes on the recovery team. They made it through.

Dunn scrambles after Ahora and reaches the junction, one hand raised against the strobing glare. Beyond them, the gate corridor flickers in unstable intervals.

Dunn

Dunn

You opened the route. Keep them together while I stabilize the return lock.

The trapped Marines move toward Ahora through the cramped junction, gear secured against their bodies. Their helmet lamps sweep across cracked conduits and sealed chamber doors.

Ahora stands with the team at the controls, having reached them before the return path collapses. Dunn tears open the access panel and begins working.
